I installed a program and somehow lost the ability to access the
internet through my wireless router. I did a system restore from a day
before and the wireless drivers came back. But then the next day when
I started my computer they were gone again. Is there any way I can
make this change permanent? I've never dealt with this kind of problem
before.

Hi

Your router drivers uninstalled as a result of installing this ne
prog

They came back with system restore

They were gone again when you restarted

Sounds like this new prog. is causing the problem when it , or your p
restarts

Uninstall it. Then system restore ( to a point before you installe
the new program) and check your wifi drivers are installed

If , when you restart , the wifi drivers are still there - this ne
program was causing the problem

Hope that help

are still gone. Is there any way to get them back?

just an update. I reinstalled my Linksys router on my computer so now
I can get online when I'm plugged into the router but If I disconnect
the wire I lose connection. I try to go into my connection tab on
internet option and it only gives me an option for Broadband and
Dialup but no wireless. How can that happen. when I click on help it
tells me to click on wireless if that's what I want but it's just no
there. How do I get that back?

Hi,

You say you deleted the program - did you uninstall it ? if not, click
Control panel, click Uninstall a program - if you see it listed, right
click it and uninstall.

Do the drivers show up as being properly installed in Device Manager ?
Click start orb, control panel, classic view ,double click device
manager.
Click the + next to your wifi device then right click the device in
question and check it is listed as working also look under the drivers
tab.

Suggest you visit the manufacturer 's website to see if there are new
drivers to install.

You may need to set up your wireless connection again.

Unplug from the router - keep it switched on.

Click Start>Control Panel>Network and Internet>Network and Sharing
Center.

On the left, click Set up a Connection or Network>Connect to the
Internet>Next.

Choose your wireless network (you may need to input your password -if
it is a secured network if so, use the same one you had before ) click
Connect.

Hope this helps
