Lost WLM Contacts

My wife is running a Dell laptop with XP SP3 and 1 Gig of RAM. Her WLM has
been running fine but all of a sudden her contacts disappeared. Are they
really gone? Is there a way to get them back? Are they on server somewhere?
She claims she wasn't working at all with the contacts when they
disappeared.

Any help would be greatly appreciated..........Paul C.

Was she using a Live ID to sign on to Windows Live in WLM then later chose not to thus resorting to the default Contacts(non Live
ID) list which if none were entered, migrated, or imported would be blank.

Hi Winston. Not sure how she signed in but I'll try to find out.

If she re-signs in using Live ID will her contacts `come
back'?...............Paul C

If your wife had originally set WLMail to sign in to Windows Live Services
using a Windows Live ID, the Contacts list she had was associated with that
Windows Live ID, and stored on remote servers. Signing in with that Windows
Live ID will restore access to those contacts.

To add to Norman's response
"If your wife had originally set WLMail to sign in to Windows Live Services
using a Windows Live ID, the Contacts list she had was associated with that
Windows Live ID, and stored on remote servers"

....and stored locally in a database file used by WLM. Once signed on with that Live ID, the local contacts are loaded and then
synchronized(with those on the remote server). Synchronization ensures that the local database and the remote storage are common.

Note: Seperately, if one deletes that Live ID's local contact database folder(in Windows Explorer not WLM) the next sign-on with
that same Live ID will download the remote contacts(synchronize) and recreate the local database.

If using a Live ID to sign on to Windows Live, then the contacts are stored locally and on the web server(contacts.live.com)
