Hi,
Sounds like either the drive is damaged, or there is a hardware problem with
the connectors. Run a drive diagnostic from the manufacturer (generally
these are free to download and run from a bootable disk). You may find that
it is not functioning properly. If it is working, then most of these
utilities also provide for a drive format as well.
