As luck would have it, I actually received two attached meetings from the
same company since my original post. One for a single appointment, the other
for a recurring appointment.
Saving the .ICS attachments out to text files, the only difference was an
additional line in the recurring appointment in the VEVENT section ...
BEGIN:VCALENDAR
....
BEGIN:VEVENT
.....
RRULE:FREQ=WEEKLY;UNTIL=20071217T170000Z;BYDAY=FR
.....
END:VEVENT
END:VCALENDAR
This RRULE line is the only difference.
Both meetings showed up at the correct time in Outlook.
However, on my WM 5 devices, the meeting with the RRULE entry - the
recurring meeting - appeared as though they were scheduled at GMT (offset by
6 hours from where they should have been) whereas the one without it - the
single meeting - appeared at the correct time.
I deleted the RRULE entry from the first .ICS file, and placed it into the
second ICS file, emailed them both to myself as attachments, and the
expected happened. The previously incorrect meeting appeared at the correct
time - whereas, the previously correct meeting now appeared 6 hours too
early.
Anybody know enough about these .ICS files to understand what the issue is ?
As a final note/observation: If I drag the repeating meeting up or down half
and hour in outlook - it jumps 5.5 or 6.5 hours in the calendar in WM 5.
ie.. it moves to match the Outlook time exactly. Dragging it back to it's
original position also keeps them in sync. I do get a warning popup message
that I should let the originator know I am moving the meeting - so I am not
sure if they send an update whether it will link to the meeting correctly or
not. If anyone knows the answer to this, please let me know. This might be
a workaround for the moment.
Thanks.
