low virtual memory

I have a XP desk top,3yrs old. I keep getting windows screen popping saying
that it's increasing the size of virtual memory paging file. What can I do
myslf to increase the memory?

Virtual memory and RAM are two separate things. My advice to you is this:

Well you have an option here but limited options on performance. Now I have
not examined your computer RAM amount and CPU, but you run XP; so It's three
years old. You could let Windows handle your performance to maximize it but
then things visually are less appealing or you could spend money.

I would say in this case the best value is to bite the bullet and buy a new
computer. You could try to clear off as much hard drive space as you can by
unisnstalling unnesscary programs. This will increase speed a bit. The more
free space on your hard drive better performance.

Now you could determine how much more RAM your motherboard can handle and
buy it and install the cards, like I said, I opine better to buy a new
computer, but I could be wrong.

You can go into Control Panel/System/ Advanced Settings and increase the
amount of disk reserved for Virtual Memory.
