Lower font size/DPI

Hello,

I wanted to know if it was still possible with Windows Vista to use lower
than 100% DPI. The "Adjust Font Size" link in Personalization might seem to
be the answer, however :

- the 96 DPI default font size is too big for me

- the "Custom DPI..." setting does NOT allow me to go below 100%, if I try
to slide the ruler down, it doesn't move. If I manually enter a number below
100%, it goes right back to 100%. Going up work flawlessly, but that's not
what I want. I don't understand this limitation, as this same panel works
perfectly fine in Windows XP, where I could set the DPI to 75% without any
problem.

I tried disabling the Vista Aero theme, with no luck.

If you want smaller font on your display, then just increase your
screen resolution. You cannot set the DPI below 100%.

Thank you for you reply. I should have mentionned in my question that I am
already at the maximum supported resolution of my screen, yet my icons and
text are still too large for me.

Does Microsoft have any reason to forbid below 100% DPI since Windows Vista
? As I said it worked fine in Windows XP and was a most appreciated feature,
at least for me.

Anyway thanks for your clear answer. I guess I'm back to XP because of this.

No, it's not necessary to go back to XP. Stay with Vista, it work
fine. I had the same problem until getting help from a friend.

Simply right click on the main desktop screen, then click on View i
the menu. Here, you can click on the Custom icon (size) where it wil
instantly change to a smaller size icon. The user also has the choic
of selecting a large or medium size icon as well. Personally, I lik
the small or custom size icon. This will easily take care of the DP
issue. Good luck.

(If you read this Corky, thanks again for your help with this answer.
:-)

Regard
