I am currently running vista business with live messenger 8.1..According to
the connection tab it tell me I am connected to messenger through a non upnp
nat router..I have a Linksys WRT54GS V4 and upnp is enabled....Now for the
twist !! I sign in on my wife's (windows XP ) laptop using my messenger
sign in and it tells me that I am connected through a upnp port restricted
nat router...I have updated to the latest firmware (a week ago)...Now the
question...Could this be causing the problem with video and voice in
messenger and if so is it Vista ??, Linksys ?? or both ?? Any ideas ?? Need
an answer please ............ Thanks Drew

Greetings Drew,

Just so you know, I have the same problem in Vista (and the same thing on a XP machine) with
the Microsoft MN-500.

Occasionally after a reboot it will miraculously discover it's a UPnP-router but otherwise
it's the same thing. However, it still does seem to forward the ports.

This "problem" started in Vista RC2. I've done all sorts of things to try and get it to
display properly and haven't had much luck personally.
