The MAC is in the NIC firmware and has been erased, possibly during a BIOS
flash.
If you know how, it may be possible to reflash the BIOS and write the
correct MAC code with the flash utility switches, but the code will have
been assigned uniquely to the laptop and unless you know it, will have to be
rewritten by the HP Service Center.
