Hi,
We have installed WSUS3 SP2 on Win 2003 server , Now we are facing with a
peculiar issue that the WSUS console shows only 293 Machines, even if we
add new machines on the domain, though it appears on the console but any
random computer disappears from the console and the count of computers on
the WSUS console remains at 293. All the machines that are on network are
installed on one-to one basis and not by cloning or by Ghost.

Best Regards,
DD

Despite not using cloning, this is a classic symptom of duplicated
SusClientIDs. What is the source of the image or media that you are using to
do the one-to-one installs? Sounds like this image may not have a clean
SYSTEM hive.

See KB903262 for remediation steps.

Hi,
We are using the Original Media from Microsoft got under the MOLP and the
knowledge base article may not help us as none of the systems are either
installed by cloning/ghost nor by RIS/unattended/Sysprep. We are installing
each machine with the DVD from Microsoft.

Best Regards,
DD

Okay.. taking this into consideration, we still need to rule out duplicate
SusClientIDs.

Could you please inspect the registry keys documented in KB903262 on these
machines that are randoming appearing/disappearing, and determine if they
are unique values. If they are, then we have an entirely new scenario not
previously encountered. If they're not unique, then KB903262 applies, and we
just don't know the cause.
