Mail shows (1), but no mail.

The last, maybe few weeks, my windows live messenger (version 8.5) has been
showing numbers for the amount of mail I have, but I have no mail. Anyone
have a fix, or know if this is a known problem they are working on? Also,
today the MSN mail does not seem to be working as I sent myself a test
message, and it's not going through,,,been about 10 minutes so far. Never
got an e-mail I was expecting about a half hour ago also, so was wondering if
MSN mail is temporarly down?

This breaks regularly and has never been completely reliable. It's done server side and
there's really you can do about it. It will simply fix itself.

It's not generally down, it's just the number that's wrong.

And just so you know you're not alone in this boat, mine says I have 5 mails -- I have 0.

If you check your e-mails using firefox or any other program other than
internet explorer, it might do that.
