Hi Rick,
Ffirst, I would like to touch base on the following statement:
"There are 4 email users configured as User mailbox and
> receiving email email just fine via OWA. "
OWA does NOT receive mail. It is one of the methods users can use to access
their mailbox. They can read received mail that came in through the server,
or send mail, which will be sent out by the server.
Secondly, contacts do not receive mail. Contacts do not have mailboxes.
Contacts are for outside entities. For example, we have a devevloper on
staff that has their own external email address, and does not need a local
mailbox. However we would like to make sure that his account is in our
Global Address List. Therefore I would create a Contact for him, and provide
the external email address. This way a user in our org will see his name in
the GAL, select it to send an email. The email will be sent to his external
email address.
If you need the contact accounts to receive mail, you will need to delete
them, then recreate the accounts as a mailbox-enabled user account. You can
also add an email address to an existing user, such as the Accountant. Say
his name is Bob Smith. His email address is
. You can also
add to his account,
. He can now receive mail on that
email, but he will reply back wtih a From address of
. You
can do the same with the other accounts, such as
;
, or whatever, and associate them with other individuals as
needed.
