Major Active Sync Problem

Hi,

I have a HTC Diamond 2 running on WM 6.1 and about 27,000 contacts in my MS Outlook 2002 to be synced using MS Active Sync 4.5. However, despite uninstalling, restarting and reinstalling WM 6.1 as well as doing a reset before synchronising, I keep seeing synchronisation stopped with the Support Code:80070018 displayed. I have even tried synchronising on different computers and laptops but to no avail. I informed HTC of my problem but they asked me to contact Microsoft.

Earlier on in the mistaken belief that it was the smartphones that was causing the problem I have even tried buying various smartphones like the Sony Xperia X1, Nokia N97, Asus M900 etc. But I faced similar problems whereby synchronisation halts halfway and have no choice but to sell them at a loss. I have already used up all contracts with my telcos.

Can anyone tell me how to resolve this problem without reducing the number of contacts?

Many thanks

Alex

Hi Alex,

I wonder if the error code is arising due to the large number of contacts.
Have you considered trying to move the contacts first to a temp sub folder
and then sync them by moving small sets back to Contacts folder?

Hi, Alex,

1. Maybe the outlook file (Outlook.pst) holding your contacts got damaged.
Search your PC for utility "scanpst.exe" and run it.
First, it will backup then repair your outlook.pst file.
Try ActiveSync again.

2. Check ActiveSync 4.5 for compatibility with Outlook2002.
