Major problem with SP2 update

My laptop (Packard Bell) will not load XPhome after the SP2 update. I have
followed the instructions given Article 888162 and uninstalled KB834707. The
machine worked properly once again.

However I succumbed to the nag sreens and did another SP2 upgrade. The
machine is now stuck displaying wallpaper. No icons. The same error message
"Explorer.exe - entry point not found....." displays.

This time when I try to uninstall I get an error message at the end of the
procedure indicating that the file was not found.

Please, can anyone suggest a removal method?
