Make library resemble iRiver

I have my friends iRiver and I want to get the songs from the iRiver to my
library. However, when I connect the iRiver to my laptop, it says its going
to sync the iRiver to my library, how do I change that setting? Or, a better
question is, is there a way to change that setting?
