@Everyone...

My Comments..(only applicable to VistaSp2/Win7)
WU/MU has four settings
a. Notify - check for updates before download and install
b. Download but user chooses whether to install
c. Automatic download and install
d. Never check
If using a WLE application and not using the current version(e.g. 2009) of
an WLE application, then WLE 2011 apps will be pushed as an MU recommended
update in a,b, and c. If not using any WLE apps, then WLE 2011 is pushed
as an optional update.
Thus if one is using WLE 2009(including having removed 2011 and reinstalled
2009) on Vista Sp2/Win7...the above still applies and if (c) is the default
WU/MU setting then WLE 2011 will be automatically download/installed(i.e.
one must change WU to a, b, or d to prevent auto download/install.
Especially important for those who went back to 2009!!!.
Secondly...WLE apps have the ability(hard coded) to request/prompt
independently of WU/MU of an available current version(e.g. Like ET-Phone
Home). It can not be turned off. The built-in option is present to inform
and provide the option to upgrade...especially important when continued use
is no longer possible.
Finally, as I've noted numerous times before...a security issue with any
WLE application(which we've seen more than once with Messenger in the past
and requiring use of the current version) may require use/upgrade to the
current available version to retain functionality(e.g. earlier versions
won't function and especially sensitive to applications that require a Live
ID for all features)
** i.e.
- using an older version does not mean it will be available for use in
perpetuity.
- while Live ID sensitive the current version request to upgrade to
retain functionality takes precedent thus not using a Live ID may not
matter
Imo...if using VistaSp2/Win7....use the current version and if not...have
an backup plan for other third party applications that meet your needs. If
using 2009 on any o/s...while 2009 is supported for the foreseeable
future..it does not mean until the end of XP support in April 2014 !!! Why
???? In the case of security issues..Msft will protect their interest first
and foremost...disabling functionality and/or specific features until the
current version is installed within the scope of the TOS(remember its a
free product and by use you've agreed and committed to allow them to do
so!).
Feel free to rant...but ensure you have a plan for the future in tandem
with your opinion.

?Hi, Jaypie.
No.
I think I've heard that Windows Live Essentials might be included in
Microsoft Updates (that's Windows Updates with the "...and other
products..." setting selected) in the future, but that hasn't happened yet.
As Winston said, build 1109 is still the latest.
For now, use these links:

If you are/were using (and still doing so) no updates for build
15.4.3508.1109 have been released.
