I kept seeing the icon as you have described almost every boot up. Finally
last nite I decided to check my history to see what was going on. My
“history” indicates with “ green checkmarks” that I have successfully updated
“Def Update 1.14 1452.3 for BETA Windows Defender (K8915597) via “Automatic
Update” a total of 21 times over various dates (sometimes on multiple
occasions on the same date) and have via “Automatic Updates” successfully
installed the “Malicious Software Removal (KB890830) a total of 4 times (once
each in Feb., Mar., Apr., and May). This is crazy and it just keeps going.
Does anyone have an idea how to turn this “off”; further, how can I remove
all of these files (where are they, Windows apparently isn’t seeing them
hence the Updates). Thanks.
