Malicious software remover questions

Hi.

My updater just installed the malicious remover tool. However I have some
questions about it that I couldnt find answers to:

1. The EULA gave me a link to a page where there should have been
instructions as to how i can disable the report back to microsoft feature.
However on that page there was no such information. Under 'reporting back'
section (whatever it was called) there was only a list of information that
was being sent back to MS.

2. It is stated that the program does not install anything on the computer
and that it does not stay resident in memory. Also there does not seem to be
any way to launch it from my computer short of going to the link provided and
running it online. Whats the point of downloading it as an update then? Just
to create a trojan/worm-map for microsoft?

So could you please give me more information as to what this thing is
supposed to to in addition to being a removal tool one time when you download
it?

1. See FAQ 21 on the link below
2. The tool checks for the particular items and removes them if found.
Since it is not installed, there is no way to launch without downloading
again.
The article will answer most questions:

Hi.

Thank you for your reply. My bad not noticing that disable function in faq.
Nicely hidden as always. I do still think that such a scanner is nonsense
if run once per month and in autoupdate method only serves to create MS
virusmap but I disagree with MS policies quite often so nevermind

Best wishes,
Alphard

This tool is by design very limited.
It will only look for and remove what have been determined the worst
threats.
If something is found, the user has already failed to protect their
computer.
Microsoft determined once a month is sufficient.
If anyone feels the need to run it more often, the option is to run it as
often as you desire.
It is fully up to the users choice if they want to run it more often

This tool is not a substitute for any other tool.
But it can go a long way to help keeping the computer population free of the
most common problems.
I think that this tool can be very effective in what it is designed to do.
