Managed DirectX Update Fails

I have been able to apply all current updates to WinXPP except the Managed
DirectX update. The system says it is already downloaded but it fails the
installation all the time. I think what I need to do is delete the history
and possibly the previous download from Software Distribution and re-download
the file again to get things going. Can you tell me how to do this?
