Just recover my Thinkpad and try to update it using
Windowsupdate.

But there is one critical update can not even be
download. That is "816093: Security Update Microsoft
Virtual Machine (Microsoft VM)"

EVERYTIME I selected this one in Windowsupdate, and
started downloading, I ALWAYS got the failure..

Just wondering I can manually download this package
elsewhere?

My OS is windows XP.

anyone have a idea??

Thnx.

WinXP, WinXP SP1, WinXP SP1a, or WinXP SP2?

Did you reinstall Windows? Did you use the WinXP CD provided with your
laptop? Is Microsoft VM currently installed? See...

Look in iuhist.xml (a file on your machine) for errors associated with the
install of the problem update. Compare them to those listed at

Thanks.
Yes, you reinstall Windows using the recovery CD shipped
with IBM Thinkpad.

Actually this is the second time I recovered my Laptop.
It worked fine for the the first time, I can successfully
downloaded and applied this update.

But this time, it did not.

I've tried many times. After I recovered the machine, I
go to windowsupdate to update. And it can not be applied.

Then I installed the SP2, and tried to update it again.
Oops, it failed again and again.

I'm sure that MS VM is installed. Coz, I key in
the "jview", it does give some output such as the version
and available options.

Thanks.
