Try to find out which tasks are using that module and stop them? <EG>
Hint: if you have XP Pro you should have tasklist which could
be used to see this. I'm not sure what XP Home users get.
Perhaps they can get tasklist on their Support Tools.
BTW I just tried:
tasklist /svc /fi "Modules eq qmgrprxy.dll"
and got the message:
INFO: No tasks running with the specified criteria.
so I would be interested in seeing what task you find is using that module.
Since you have been attempting a manual install another variation
you could try would be to do it under a safe mode boot
(the idea being that fewer tasks would be running, some of which
could be the ones which are causing your symptom.)
Hmm... I just took a look at the KB842773 article and for a guess
would wonder if you happen to have the BITS service already
running? If so, stop that; it should be Manual anyway.
