Let's just start with I am trying to upgrade to service pack 2.
1) The Windows Update v5 does not work. It tells me to update my WU
softare, so I click next and it downloads to 100% then registers to 100%, but
then stops. The next time I visit WU site it just says 'checking for updates
to windows software' and never stops. OR, sometimes when updating the WU
software I've recieved 2 different errors (0x800700E6, 0x800A138F but not at
the same time).
2) The windows support site says something about a 3rd part Firewall that
may be causing the problem but I dont have that particular Firewall but I
check my windows firewall anyway. Now for some reason I cannot even enable
my firewall and it says I need to choose at least one protocol but it wont
let me (I don't know much about this area).
3) I read a post which directs me to the v4 of the WU site. This allows me
to search my computer and it comes up with 4 critical updates. I download
the updates but it wont install. I get error 0x80004005. I then go to my
WUTemp folder and try to install them manually but I get the error "Setup
could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the
Crytographic service is running on this computer". I have no idea what this
means.

I'm all out of ideas, but as a side note I have been getting an increased
amount of IE errors lately and my computer has been acting a little funny in
a few other areas, which is why I want to upgrade to SP2 to begin with.

P.S. I am not that computer savy so I would appreciate any responses to this
to keep them simple if possible. Thank you.
