Hello, before I start, I am running Windows XP Pro on a Toshiba P25-S477.
When I visit Windows Update it says checking for latest Update Software.
After a few seconds an error message pop's up saying, "Your current security
settings prohibit ActiveX from running. Because of this the page may not
display correctly" This does not make sense since my security settings are
low. Anyway, after the error message the screen says Administrators Only and
it tells me that only administrators are allowed to download updates. I
tried resolving the issue by modify the registry as Microsoft recommended.
That still did not help. I don't think I'm using a firewall and I've tried
everything Microsoft recommended. Can anyone help me with this problem?

In your browser, go to Tools, Internet Options, then Security Tab, Custom
Level and enable all ActiveX settings.

This might sound a bit obvious but have you type in search "activeX" to make
sure you have them installed okay, in mine it shows 2 folders in program
files/common files and one in the acrobat folder, if not download them! can't
do any harm and it has worked for me in the past although I was then running
98SE but that shouldn't make any difference.
