I've mapped L: to a folder named c:\L-map on my C: drive. It looks like
this: L-map(\\Pauls-compaq\c)(L But programs that want to open files on
the L: drive fail. For example L:\copies\abc-file.txt is not found, but
does exist. Any idea what's wrong? TIA, Paul

Kinda obvious, but have you checked the ownership & security settings
for that folder (and applied them to all folders & files)?

Hi Hank,
The program I'm running (and more than 1 program fails) is in a sub-folder
of the same L-map folder off the root. The file is in
L:\copies\abc-file.txt, and the program is in L:\progs\widgets\abc-prog.exe
.. I run the program in administrator mode (marked so in the icon, as well
as run in XP sp2 compatibility mode). I've never messed with ownership &
security settings on any of my computers, except to make the entire hard
drives available to read and write to all the others in my home network. I
only worry that since I've mapped to C: (my laptop only has a C that
breaks some rule. Is there some specific process I should run to be assured
that your suggestion is or is not responsible? Thanks, Paul
