I really do appreciate taking time out of your schedule to attempt to answer
me...yet I am still confused....what is a net work card? Do you mean my video
card? Not sure what a network card is as I only have one computer and it is
only used by me... here is the full message for hardware upgrade
Marvell Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010 PCI Gigabit Ethernet Controller

so I guess you are right but I am unsure what this is...I have cable access
to my computer.....

The network card or interface (the controller may be intergrated into
your motherboard and not a seperate printer circuit board that plugs
into one of the slots on your motherboard) is the device that connects
your computer to a network.

You say you have "cable access" to your computer, the ethernet
controller (or network card/interface) controls the flow of information
to and from your computer via your cable modem.

If you look at the back of your computer you will probably see a blue
(some times grey) cable that is plugged in to a socket, the other end
will then be plugged into your cable modem or into a communications
socket on the wall depending on how your place is set up.

A NIC (Network Interface Card) connects your computer to the outside world.
The cable modem "output" is connected to the computer's "input" so-to-speak.
You really should learn a little more about the medium you're using. These links will help you
