Mastered File System not available in Vista Ultimate

I have Vista Ultimate and recently needed to burn a CD with the Mastered File
System. I have two Vista Ultimate computers and in the Autoplay window one
lets me chose either the Live or Mastered file format. But my other Vista
Ultimate computer never gives me the option to pick the file system for my
CD. I also have Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 on that same computer and the help
menus there seems to say the ISO file format should be available from the
drop down menu but it is not there either, It seems something is just
stopping my computer from using the Mastered format on CD.

How can I get the Mastered file system to be an option on my Vista Ultimate
computer?

Thanks for your input ceed. I read these pages but I already know what file
type to use when, my problem is getting the Mastered file system to be an
option.

I was just wondering the same thing. I just installed Vista Home Premium 64,
and while I had no problem getting the Mastered option to come up in my other
computer with Home Premium 32-bit version, this option does not appear when I
insert a CD-R in this version. What's going on?

I guess you and I are the only ones having this problem. If you ever figure
it out, please let me know and I'll do the same.

I cannot tell from your write-up, but there is a bug in Vista if you have
two burning devices: DVD burner and CD burner. This was addressed with MS
two years ago and to my knowlege, never fixed. Their answer then was, "Most
users do not operate with two burning devices."

Live burning, or third-party programs did not seem to be affected since they
don't use Vista's Temporary Burn folders.

Conditions that exacerbate the problem:
If you are only copying one file or folder (doesn't matter how many
subfolders), then the Temporary Burn folder retained within Vista gets
confused between which device it is to use and ends up making platters if
Mastered option is used. Frequently, mastered option will not be available.

The only solutions I've found as a workaround:
1. Ensure you are trying to copy at least two files or folders in the root
directory of the CD/DVD.
2. Remove one of the two burning devices.

Could Roxio be causing the problem? It installs additional CD drivers

Working fine here by the way (Vista Ultimate x64).
