grrr.....hit wrong key combination when trying to copy/paste and sent the
message before finishing.

I have pasted below the latest updates - I'm not sure which one caused the
problem or if it was a combination.

Other factors:

yes, I do use Norton Internet Security - I have disabled this and the issue
continues.
I do not have any viruses or spyware on my computer
I do not have any file-sharing or other potentially dangerous software on my
computer.

I am hoping desperately someone can help me find a solution to this problem
as I'd really love to avoid formatting - I just don't have the time to do
that but cannot continue working the way things are - too many problems with
stuff I do hundreds of times a day, not to mention not being able to back up
forum databases etc because of the "download files" being blocked.

HELP! please? someone?

Tal

Go to Add/Remove Programs.. ensure that the 'show updates' box is checked
(at the top of the window).. uninstall the problem updates...

Now disable NIS temporarily, and install the updates again.. then restart
NIS..

I've totally removed NIS from my system....I totally removed all windows
updates and yet i still have this problem.

In addition to those mentioned already, I also cannot download any kind of
file or save any kind of file from email attachments either. I keep getting
an error when I try to download through IE that says "your security settings
do not allow you to save this file" and when I try to save through OE email
attachment, I get a message saying that my disk is probalby full (which it
isn't)

I'm going insane trying to fix this....

Errk! You may have just shot yourself in the foot by uninstalling NIS.

Reinstall NIS then see this Symantec page:
http://service1.symantec.com/Support...05083015103436

Several posters have told us that /something/ on that page fixes the
problems but they've not been specific. I'd try disabling Protection,
restoring the defaults and then re-enabling Protection.

I'm not convinced what I have been experiencing is even an NIS issue - it's
not Norton that is creating problems with firewalls, It's the internet
explorer security settings that are the problem

if that link you sent is all about resetting Norton to defaults, that's
easily done by simply reinstalling as I chose not to save settings when I
uninstalled.
