McAfee Virus Scan Locks up on ActivSynC.lnk

I can't run McAfee virus scan - when it gets to ....\activesync.lnk it just
stops my whole system DEAD. I have to do a hard boot. Virus scan (v 8 from
MIS 6) doesn't cancel and task manager (XP Professional) won't come up.

I have posted on the McAfee group but they don't have a response.

help?

post note - its active sync 3.7, build 3083 , using to sync IPAQ

I ran the scan in safe mode, and its the same thing - whole system shut
down... I originally quoted the wrong file, however -

C:\programs\microsoft activesync\mobiledevice.lnk

The shortcut to the mobile device...

I hope someone has a suggestion. Thank you.

Hi

In Mcafee you can add the shotcut to an exclude list, and the virus scanner
wont scan it...
