Hi, I have been running Norton Antivirus on a Dell PC for the past year
The subscription ran out and I had a chance through a Scottrade accoun
to use McAfee Antivirus. I loaded the full "recommended" set up las
night. After it loaded, I ran a full scan. After the scan completed
Vista was not locked up, but it would not shut down nor would an
programs run. I could click on an icon for a program such as Firefox
or even McAffee, and it would act like something was going to happen
but nothing would

I ended up having to just turn the computer off and go into safe mode.
I tried just shutting down and then a normal start and nothing changed.
I had to turn the PC off again via the button, and then go into saf
mode. I then removed McAffee and the computer runs fine. But, now I a
running without virus protection

Anyone hear of something like this? Help

Never use Norton or McAfee virus protection. Bloated programs that will
screw with your machine. Try AVAST. It works well with Vista and for home
users, it's FREE. Many people here have been using it successfully for two
years.

Did you uninstall Norton before installing MsAfee?
Even if your subscription runs out, it is still protecting you up to that
expiry date with its definitions.
2 AVs together spell trouble.

Pick your Norton product to remove.

I think you will find mixed feelings with McAfee. I have been using it a
while now & haven't
really had any problems. The UI isn't the greatest though. It came with my
subscription to Comcast.
