The latest Security Update for MDAC 2.8 installed and all seemed to go well.
A week or so later I noticed I could not Import or Link to Data Sources in
Access 2003. I have several Oracle DSNs. When I select the ODBC Databases
for File Type in the drop down box, instead of seeing the list of available
Data Sources, the entire Import or Link Window goes away as if there were a
corrupted DLL. I get no error messages. I have tried all sorts of fixes
including repairing MS Office but recently I started looking at the problem
from an MDAC perpective. Component Checker says I have MDAC Ver 2.8 SP1 on
XP SP2 with two mismatches. The files are MSADCO.DLL Expected=8.81.1117.0,
Found=2.81.1124.0 and msxml3.dll Expected=8.50.2162.0 Found=8.70.113.0.
Actually Ver 2.8 SP1 info sheet says it is not for XP. Anyone else recently
get a problem like this.
