Hello, if anyone has a fix to this, it has happened to me on 3 computers. I
have spent good money buying MCE for my home, and NONE of my computers work
in Media Center mode.
I run the setup wizard and everything works up until audio detection... It
just freezes for 10+minutes. This happens EVERY TIME I attempt to setup
Media Center. Everything works PERFECTLY on my PC's IF I dont run them in MC
mode.
I want Media Center to be JUST THAT, a media center.
All of my drivers are installed, the 3 PC's in question are AOpen Mini PC's
MP915's

PLEASE HELP, I love the way media center looks, but I ate not being able to
use it.

I've occasionally had that problem on a few systems, and basically I just
told it NOT to test my audio, bypassed the audio setup, and everything
worked fine. Now, my systems are basic stereo, no fancy 5.1 or 7.1 or
digital audio, so that wasn't a problem. If yours are similar, try bypassing
that part of setup and see if it works...

If you're running MCE 2005, then you need a decoder. nVidia makes one for
$20, and some versions of other programs have compatible decoders. Go to
microsoft.com and search for "decoder check" - a utility that will tell you
which decoders you have installed, and whether they're compatible, and which
one is the default.

I've had Windows installer hang up for long periods of time. I then
write in my logbook something like "Geez - Windows Installer has
hung up for 15 minutes - time for the power switch." Then I look up
again and the process has just come back to life.

I think it's totally weird, but it has happened to me several times
recently.

So one possibility is to go get another cup of coffee (as if you
need to be even tenser!) and wait a few minutes longer.

Not, Windows Installer isn't MCE's Audio Setup, but I've seen it
with other software too on rare occasions.

I hope this helps (and I don't blame you for any skepticism!).
