Media Center crashes after Windows update

Hi everyone, I just did a Windows Update on my XP Media Center and now Media
Center crashes every time I try to access Live TV or play a recorded TV show.
My recordings list as well as my TV recording schedule was also completely
blown away (although I'm not too concerned about that). I tried to do a
system restore but it looks like all my restore points were blown away too. I
have a bunch of checkpoints listed but when I try restoring from them I get
an message saying that nothing was restored. Is a checkpoint different from a
restore point?

One other thing..... is there a way to reinstall Media Center? I don't have
any disks - my PC came preloaded with all this stuff and I don't want to go
thru reinstalling Windows. Thx

Depending on your brand of computer, there is probably a hidden Restore
partition on your hard drive.

To access it differs on different brands, read your manual or go to the
manufacturer's web site for instructions.

Restore points are very different from Check points.

System crash is a good reason for regular OS backups.
