I have a HP Media Center PC/2003. 2.4 GHz with 1.5 Gig RAM. When I go to TV it starts the swirling icon like it is going to tune in and then it locks up, the icon keeps spinning. I typically go to the Task Manager & end the Media Center process. I have noticed that ehrec.exe continues to use about 50% of my processor. It continues to run eventhough Media Center has been closed out. I typically go in and end it as well to speed up my computer. Media Center is also very sluggish about playing saved video files as well, this never occured before.

*I have had no problems in the past and have gotten perfectly good reception etc.
*Experienced a similar episode after upgrading RAM, but then after a restart it worked for over a month.
*Same problem now, will not go away.
*I have uninstalled Antivirus, Turned Off Firewalls, Went back to restore points that were 3 months old, used selective startup etc.
*I need help resolving this issue, I feel like there is some conflict in my system registry.
*I do not have any new video software programs installed.

How about removing the extra RAM? My MCE only has 256 MB. 1.5 G might be
good for other applications but certainly not for MCE. Maybe the RAM is
marginal, or the motherboard's support for so much RAM is marginal.

I too had no problems with Media Center until late Jun 2010 after some MS Window Updates. Then it locks up with ehrec.exe using about 50% of CPU. Hope someone comes up with a solution.
