Media Center is missing

I have vista ultimate and purchased the hp ec680 tv tuner card. the microsoft
site says that vista ultimate includes media center but the application is
not installed.

Can someone help me in finding how to install the Media Center on my Vista PC?

Media Center cannot be installed as a separate program.

What is the make and model of your PC?

When and where did you purchase it?

Hi,

Do a Search for "ehshell.exe", it should be in the C:\Windows\ehome folder.
Perhaps for whatever reason your shortcut under Start is missing.

The computer came with Media Center, but I have installed Windows Vista
Ultimate and the Microsoft site says that Media Center is included in both
the Vista Ultimate and Vista Home Premium Editions. See:

I looked and could not find a C:\windows\ehome folder.

I cannot figure out how to I install the Media Center from the Vista disc. I
don't know if the re-install will wipe my data and installed applications.
Any suggestions?

Hi,

Not sure what has happen here and you are correct, both versions do have the
Media Center. If you follow this link I think you can give this a try and
see if it brings it back. Don't be intimidated by the window that states
"Automatically fix problems that are preventing windows from starting".

Just remember before doing any kind of Repair, Reinstall, etc. to always
backup your user files, pics, music and so on. Anything could happen, power
failure, surge in the power line, etc.
