When I get to the bit where I am asked to select a connection I click on my
ISP and Media Centre Crashes. I get an exception box which says:

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

Process id=0*6c0 (1728), Thread id=0*165c (5724).

Click OK to terminate the application.
Click CANCEL to debug the application

It would be helpful if you provide some information.

What OS are you using (XP, Vista, 7)?

Is this a new install/first time or did it work previously?

Does your internet work otherwise?

Are you connected and online when you try this (i.e., you don't have dialup
or have to do something first to get connected)?

System specs would be helpful.

Look at the Event Viewer to find out the error log.

OK, I have very very little spotty info here. You should always include
specifics if you want help. Type of computer, desktop, laptop. Operating
system, version, Internet Service Provider, type of connection Ie DSL,
network ,no network, router, no router.

You see to us techs who are trying to help you these details matter, and
they help us help you, which is what you want. I could bill for this I am
advising for free. How much RAM do you have, what of your CPU what kind of
chip the speed?

Now you put the error code in your post and that is good. Enter it into
Google and search it. Chances are someone else has had the same issue, maybe
they resolved it.. Take some time with that. Now we have to determine if the
problem lies with:
1. your computer
2. Media centre
or 3. your internet service provider.

So let us take number 3. Your ISP has free tech support. Call them and see
if it gets resolved. If not. Repost and please heed my advice about
specifics.

Good Luck,
Kaja
