MEDIA HAS STOPPED WORKING

I am using Windows VISTA home premium 64bit O/S
I do not have a video card for TV
However, I do want to use Media Center for music and photos and other items
not associated with TV

Every time I select Windows Media Center, in about 5 seconds or so, I get
the following error message

'Microsoft Windows Media center has stopped working'

Thank you in advance for your support and suggestions,

HankL

When did this start? Did you install any new software or upgrades?

Try a system restore to a point in time before this problem started.

Barb

I really do not know when this started. I have the computer about 6 months
and have never used Media Center.
Is there anyway I can reinstall Media Center without having to reinstall
VISTA O/S?

Thanks,

No, unfortunately not. You could try a repair install, but first,
can you please look at the event logs and see if there is
information related to this issue. Please copy and paste what you
find here.

Here is what I found:

The program ehshell.exe version 6.0.6001.18000 stopped interacting with
Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is
available, check the problem history in the Problem Reports and Solutions
control panel. Process ID: 1044 Start Time: 01ca25b3cc0e2060 Termination
Time: 0

In the event viewer under Application: Level 'ERROR', Source:
'Application Hang: ' Event ID '1002' Task Category:'(101)'

Under Administrative Events I found the following:

Event Info: ERROR: SqmApiWrapper.TimerRecord failed; Win32 GetLastError
returned 10000105
Process: DefaultDomain
Object Name: Media Center Guide

First, open an administrative cmd prompt and run the system file
checker

SFC /SCANNOW

let's see if your files are intact.

you are going to need to do a repair, see

http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...f3f351033.mspx

once that is completed (and hopefully resolves the issue) you will
have to go through a large number of Windows Updates...
