Windows 7 Media Player will not open an mp4 file posted on a website. Media
Player says, "connecting to media" then times out and displays the message
that the file could not be read and may not be compatible with Media Player.
When the file is downloaded to the PC it plays fine. I tried turning off the
firewall thinking it might be blocking the connection, but that didn't help.
Any idea what could be causing this problem? The Event Viewer shows not
errors or warning related to Media Player.

Is it just that MP4 or is it a problem with others as well?

Do online WMVs work?

Oh, and if you right-click download it, does it play?
