Hi Neil
I having the same problem. Tried you solution and sfc is asking for the
installation CD. I do not have an installation CD since:
1) My machine has an OEM version of Media Centre 2005
2) Windows XP SP3 was released and my machine updated vie Windows Update.
I tried creating an installation CD for XP SP3 as specified on the Windows
support page but it seems like all the files are located in some form of
compressed format and sfc can read them. At least it keeps reporting that the
CD is the wrong onre.
I'm kind of lost as to what to do.
I think this issue was caused by my anti-virus software called F-Secure that
erroneously wiped out some component of Windows XP.
