Media Player Update Destruction

Just downloaded the security upgrades yesterday. One of which was a media
player security patch. Now the CD drive just spits out whatever I put in
there to Rip. New or old. Just sits for a minute and spits them right back
out. It's from the patch. This much I know. My question is, Go Apple?
Every time they come up with a patch something else won't work.
