Media Player version not showing correctly

We are trying to transfer some songs to our daughters' new MP3 player.
Unfortunately Windows keeps saying we need to have Windows Media Player 10 or
higher to do so. We have Windows Media Player, but in the properties
section, it does not say what version. When I tried to download Media Player
11 however, it said we had a more recent version than that, so I'm assuming
we have 12. The date on it is July 12, 2009 (in the properties screen). How
can we get this fixed so we can move her music to her MP3 player? Any help
is greatly appreciated!

Hello,
for the record, open media player, go to help, about windows media player,
the version is on the popup you will see on your screen.
If i were in your position, I believe I would go to the website for the mp3
player and look for the direction to load music onto the player.
