Media Player Woes

Hello All, I seem to be having troubles with my windows media player on
Vista. Seems it's either not there or I just can't access it.
I keep getting the following message:
"The file wmp/oc.dll has a version number 11.0.6001.7000 where
11.0.6001.7008 was expected.
Windows media player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled".

I can't seem to figure out how to get it to reinstall either, and if I do,
will I lose any music that hopefully might be still on the computer somewhere?

Over the course of the last month or so, I have been putting some of our
favorite songs from CD's on there, and everything had been working fine for
weeks/month. Now I can't seem to get into Windows Media Player to play them.
(Really don't want to think I've lost them all, as I sold all my CD's to
local music center after downloading them :-(

Got a couple of theories, but not being a real techie, I could be way off.
Appreciate any help anyone can pass this way. Here's a couple things that
have occurred in the last couple days or week or so:

- Yesterday my wife got a new computer and we set it up in the vicinity of
mine and began setting it up. After doing so, somehow down in the right
desktop icons of MY Computer, there briefly showed up an icon that had HER
computer's name on it!, (due to being on same wireless?) Might that have
done something?
- Another - When I go into control panel 'uninstall' listing, I can
sometimes see 'Windows Media Player' listed VERY briefly, then disappears and
all that appears there is the name: "Viewpoint Media Player". Windows media
player is listed under programs, but I get the above message no matter how I
try to open it.
- And Another - Couple days ago I ran 'CCleaner' and during that it ran a
registry 'repair' or something while cleaning up temp files, etc - maybe that
did something?
My daughter thinks I still have a number of songs in a Music Folder, but
looks like nothing that I downloaded over the course of the last two weeks or
so.

Maybe none of these, as stated, not a real tech oriented person. Appreciate
any thoughts, comments, or suggestions.

If you follow the instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/961047
, does that fix it?

The most likely suspect for this is CCleaner. If you don't keep an eye
on what it's doing, the registry cleanup can break things.

Regards

Yes Tim, Thank You! Worked perfectly - And all my songs are still there!
Very much appreciate your assistance, I wouldn't have had a clue what, how,
or where to look for that link.
Thanks Again.
