After downloading the upgrade, I have a hard time playing music cd's that I
have bought with my own money from the stores. The program redirects me to
the internet store and offers me things to buy. Also, now I have a web page
from real player stuck on my browser that I cannot remove. By the way, what
is up with the security uploads? It seems that everyone is using microsoft
names to offer downloads. Is the Microsoft name for sale? I am getting 4-5
updates every week and it seems that people are using the microsoft
name/site. I purchase all my programs from microsoft, but it still seems I
am getting a lot of pop ups from microsoft. I usually do not download
anything unless it says "approved by microsoft". Lately, it seems that I
have been getting a lot of junk and it has given me nothing but problems.

What upgrade?
You say "MediaPlayer" but then you say "real player"
They are competing products and not at all related other than they both play
media files.

"pop ups from microsoft"?
No such thing.
But some are selling the updated Microsoft gives for free.
Additionally there is a host of viruses distributed in such a way that it
seems they come from Microsoft.

Install or enable a firewall IMMEDIATELY:

Then follow this to help make sure your computer is secure:
