Meeting requests not received correctly revisited

Hi

Posted this last week but was worried that the thread would be lost by now.
Have added a note to the end of the previous post to give this date as a
follow on.

This is the issue:

I have a user that is running outlook 2003 on our SBS network running
exchange
2003. Most users can succesfully use meeting requests - however, if a
meeting request is sent to one particular user, he receives the email but it
doesn't show the accept, decline options.....it looks like this:

When: 12 November 2009 10:00-10:30 (GMT) Greenwich Mean Time : Dublin,
Edinburgh, Lisbon, London.
Where: Chris's diary

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

with the stars and bits at the bottom! I have tried to cleanfreebusy but it
didn;t work.

Have had two great responses to suggest removing the automatically accept
meeting requests (tools/options/calendar options/resource scheduling).

but....this wasn't turned on.

I have tested internally getting users to sent meeting requests and they
still arrive in the format above. They also don't automatically appear in
the calendar. However, if an external user outside the domain sends in a
request - then it is correctly received with the accept/decline/tentative
options. This user is sharing his calendar - I have tried to stop sharing
with one colleague and then try the meeting but it still arrives in the same
format. He has no delegate access set up. Don;t know where to look now! Any
ideas gratefully received.

Jd

The thread is not lost. All of the folks monitoring the newsgroups use a
"watch" feature.

Are there any handhelds involved (Blackberry, Windows mobile Active Sync)?

Have you tried clearing the Outlook forms cache? This seems like an
unlikely solution given that the meeting request form is built into Outlook,
but it's worth a try. In Outlook 2003, it's in the obvious location,
Tools -> Options -> Other tab -> Advanced Options -> Custom Forms -> Manage
Forms -> Clear Cache. I'm not in front of an Outlook 2007 machine but you
get the idea.

If the user logs into a different PC and creates a mail profile there, do
they receive the appropriate requests as expected, or does the problem
follow the user to a completely new profile? Unless the problem follows the
user, I'd just create a new profile on the primary machine. Delete or
rename the existing OST file before creating the new profile, or Outlook
will reuse the same one.

Try Dave's suggestion to clear the cache.

Hi JD,

I also agree with Dave's suggestion to stop the current Outlook profile on the problematic client computer and delete or rename the existing OST file, then create a new Outlook
profile to test it.

How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2007 and in Outlook 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918/en-us

Hope it works.

If this is the case, it appears the user's mailbox is corrupted. I would PST
the mailbox (create a PST, copy/move ALL of the data to the PST from the
mailbox), then remove the mailbox attributes, purge the mailbox, then
recreate a new one, and copy (not move) his data into the new mailbox once
you created a fresh profile.

Hi JD,

Thanks for your update and sorry to know the issue still exists to that user.

In addition to Ace's suggestion to recreate user mailbox, please first check the steps in below KB article to have a try:
"Accept" or "Decline" Buttons Missing from Meeting Requests
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/329931/en-us

Hope it helps.
