Hi. I have a strange problem with WLM; on my laptop at home it grabs all
available memory as son as I start it going. That amounts to 75M real and
1.5G virtual. This only happens on one laptop - the work desktop is fine and
so is my other laptop.
The common feature is the other two are XP pro whereas the failing laptop is
XP home.
I'm up to date with all updates; any ideas where I should look?

Cheers;
Jeremy

How much ram do you have?

And, I would try upgrading to Windows Vista and see if that helps your
situation.

Upgrading to Windows Vista is DEFINATELY not going to fix this problem.
There is a known memory usage problem with 8.1.

Thanks for your replies folks.
I am intending to go for vista but doing it on a laptop rather scares me to
be honest! For now I will stick with XP home.
I tried installing the latest upgrade - ...0178 I think - and got a runtime
error in a bit of CD writing driver - the lightscribe part generated a failed
assert at the end of the upgrade.
Perhaps the config I have simply gives WLM indigestion? I see I'm not the
first to post about this. It's strange that out of my four machines only one
has this problem and that's the xp home laptop.

Before I forget; I have 1G in that machine. It's not the 75M of real ram I
object to so much as eating all my swap space; 1.5Gb is very unfriendly!

Will I just have to wait for a patch at some point then?

Thanks again;
Jeremy

Jonathan, don't forget not everyone can simply upgrade to Vista.
