Dear Newsgroups,

Hello all, I have been struggling to install RC1 and hope someone out there
can show me the light.

Story so far....

- install failed first time, since on reboot the CD was in the drive, so
then wanted to do a separate install, instead of the upgrade I was trying.
- if I remove CD, this went ok, through all install steps, it then sits on
Completing Install... (the last step) for quite a while, I then get Blue
screen and memory management error.

- This has now happened 4 times !!!!

My machine

AMD 64 +3800
Asus A8N Deluxe Mother Board
3GB RAM in 3 x 1GB Dimms
6800GS 25MB PCI-E Graphics

My thought is, like windows XP, it cannot handle 3GB of memory.

Any ideas?? Or should I hope and pray this is fixed in the final release.

Many thanks

Mark Wiltshire

Thanks Nero,

From searching through the other 'blue screen' errors, I notice there are
mentions of SATA issue.

My system disk is a SATA Maxtor 250GB, I also have an IDE.

Can I use the SATA?
Do I have to install the XP SATA Drivers from a floppy, as some threads
discuss, before the install? this seems a little strange, as they work now on
XP?
Or should I use the the IDE drive as the SATA drive does not work?

Many thanks

Mark

Ok, I have tried with USB disabled in the BIOS, now it does all as before
sits on the Completing Configuration for 30 mins + and then simply says
install failed. and starts to rollback.

I can get back to XP, on start up screens, it gives me option to start in
previous version of windwos.

How can I investigate this further...

Many thanks

Mark

I never installed any"sata"drivers, I just installed to a partition on my
SATA hard drive.
