memory problem in Vista

I have just copied a large folder (40GB) to another directory using
Windows Explorer. Although now that it has finished copying and I have
no other applications running, Task Manager indicates that 60% of my
physical memory (1GB total) is still being used. Resource Monitor
indicates that explorer.exe is using most of the memory.

I know that if I log-off/restart the computer this should fix the
problem. I would like to know why this is happening, is there a memory
problem or is this event common?

Hi Marty,

This is normal in Vista. It is just Superfetch preloading data into
memory that it thinks you will need to speed things up. It
automatically frees up the memory if it is neeed by something else. You
can read more on it in this tutorial.
