Hello,
I have installed a new SBS2008 standard server, no clients connected
yet.
I did MS updates on the server and all went fine.
now i check the server and found out that sqlservr.exe is ussing
5.154.776kB
This is very large and I want to adjust the max of usage.
is this possible and how to?
in command line or in studio manager?
i tried this
http://www.smallbizserver.net/Articl...-SBS-2008.aspx
but i get: user does not have permission...
regards Marc

Hi Marc:

In the enhanced security model of 2008 and Windows 7, you should try right
click and "run as administrator" if you have such a message.

What Brian is saying is
Login as Domain Administrator on the SBS2008 Server
Start the SQL tool by doing a "RUN AS Administrator"
Then you will have the permissions and can change things

Can anyone explain how the Marc could have logged on to the server as anything
*other* than an administrator, given that there is no indication that he
created users that could have logged on the the server that are not administrators?

Marc: The account we used to know and love, the built in Administrator account
is inactive in Server 2008, and therefore SBS 2008. The account you created
when you installed your SBS assumes that role. True, other accounts given
Admin rights *may* not have all the authority of the account created on install,
but we have yet to see that issue in SBS 2008.

Therefore, unless you did something really out of bounds, the account you
created when you installed SBS is "the administrator" The built in account
is not needed. While logged on at the console as that id, right click and
"run as administrator", and if that does not work, let us know.

I am having the same issue and I had to switch to the built in admin account
even though the one I created had admin rights. Thanks for posted about that.
I was able to change the max RAM usage to 512MB and it's current lt using
around 330MB but my CPU is till screaming at 100% utilization and it's mostly
from this sqlservr, exe instance. I have the same issue on 2 differentnt
clients SBS2008 boxes (both VMs).
