Mesenger - Error ocurred during installation

I have a problem to install messeger live in my computer , I downloade
and run the patch eDataSecurity_v2.8.4364.exe. but I can't install th
messeger, the message say : an error ocurred during the installation o
assembly 'MICROSOFT.VC90.CRT,version=9.0.21022.8. It looks like anothe
program is preventing the installer from working. hr:0x80070643. Coul
you help me please , how can I resolve this issue

I got the same problem!!
I've installed Vista Home Premium 2 days ago, and I can't install windows
live messenger. Every time I try to install the program, I get exactly the
same error message,, Please help us!

i also have the same problem, running Vista, and you can't even run older
versions of messenger!!..... this sucks....

I have the same issue, but I seem to be able to run the version of Messenger
I currently have installed. I just can't run the update to the new version.
The install hangs at about 80% and suggests that other programs running are
preventing the install. However, all likely culprits have been closed, which
suggests the problem resides in Vista itself.

It's not only Vista.. >.> I installed a BETA on XP, was unable to
uninstall/uprgade it. And upon log in attempt I get the "Service not
available, please try again" message.
Can't be uninstalled, torn the registry apart in deleting its entries >.>
Can't be upgraded as well since that "another program" prevents it. Tried
disabling the Messenger Service, everything... WE LOVE MICROSOFT BETAS?

I had the same problem, but i managed to fix it I had the trustedinstaller
deactivated (think thats how its called in english its the "Windows Module
installer" in german) so go onto start -> system configurations (or
properties? (Einstellungen)) -> administration (with the gear icon
(Verwaltung)) -> services (Dienste) and then put trustedinstaller on manual
or auto and start it. After that i was able toinstall windows live messenger

-start
-system configurations
-administration
-services
-start trustedinstaller
-install
