Message but no picture

Using Vista-windows mail I can get pictures from some people but with others
all I get is a blank box with a small x in it
I have tried adjusting my security setting and have unchecked the box
relating to pictures but still the same!
I am using CA Vet antivirus/firewall etc but do not know if this is the
problem
Any sugestions

Are the messages big enough to actually contain the picture?

Are you sure those pictures are really attached, not just referenced?
Check the file size or look at the source code (Ctrl-F3).

No Some are just about a 1/2 in square
Other mail has boxes about 2" x 1"

This particular msg has only 3 lines of type and is 13kb
