Messages being typed and sent ok but not being received by contact

Hi, me and my best mate are both having this problem, both on different isps.
We will send each other a message but the recipient never receives it. We're
both using wlm and wlm plus. Never had any problems like this before, but its
getting very annoying as you never know if the contact has got your message
or not unless they reply right away. It happens at randon times and one
minute can be working fine then 10 minutes later its not sending what you
type.
Does anyone else have this same problem as I cant find it on here or via
google. Its not just me and this one mate either, we are both having problems
with random contacts also.
This 8.1 seems very buggy, as we all seem to have the 'getting signed out
randomly all evening too', this seems to happen at busy evening times as a
point of fact. Server problem? Thanks for your help, Gillian

Hi Gillian, this is a new one to me. But I agree what you said about 8.1
it's nothing but trouble. Recently the whole live service has been giving me
crap. I have to sit and try to sign into the messenger about 2 million times
before it signs in, hotmail too. Anyway, try removing plus and see if it
works ok, also make sure your firewall settings have the correct rights for
messenger. Another thing to try (and probably best) is to go back to
messenger 8.0 and see how that works. Personally I think version 8.1 should
be destroyed and never spoke of again

Hi Stevo, thanks for your reply. I'm about to give 8.0 a try, will let you
all know if it improves matters!!! Thanks again.

At last! Someone else with this problem on 8.1. Have had this problem since I
bought my new laptop. I have even disabled the instant messenger protection
on Norton. We unchecked the "Encrypt contact list data" box in security and
all seemed to work well for 2/3 days then it started again. Like you say not
all the time and it is very annoying as you miss so much of what is said. So
you are not alone.
I am on a router and use Norton 2007.

Hi Daveee, we have one wired desktop running through the router, the one my
daughter uses and has the problem on, I'm wireless off the same router and my
mate also is wirless off the router & we both have the problem.
We have no Norton on either machine.
I've gone back to version 8 and so far it seems ok, but I've not really had
time the last couple days to test it properly. Will keep an eye on it. I hope
you find a solution too, its soooooooooo annoying isnt it. And its not just
us either I have other contacts who are having the same problem.

Is your mate using Norton 2007? I have discovered that this is an issue with
2007 and an update is available - 2007.2. I have downloaded it and it
seems to work.

I think there is an upgrade for that too, may be worth a try

Also could be a broadband/router issue. Changing the channel could be worth a
try.
