Messenger 2009 not fully minimizing

When I x out of Messenger and send it to task bar only, but not the
notification area. Can I set it up to go only to the notification area on
the far right instead of using up valuable task bar space in Windows7? it
kicks over properly in Vista and XP, but not W7.
